Hailing from the Adirondacks of upstate New York this highly-regarded band has built a reputation through memorable performances and inspiring recordings. This just might be the most impeccably fine-sounding traditional bluegrass band on the contemporary scene today. Included in Wayne 's credits are 18 years with the popular US Navy Band, Country Current. Band members: Wayne Taylor, guitar/vocals; Emory Lester, mandolin/fiddle/vocals; Kene Hyatt, bass; Scott Walker, banjo. _ FRANK SOLIVAN AND DIRTY KITCHENWEB Frank Solivan is the band leader behind Dirty Kitchen, one of the most powerful American acoustic roots ensembles touring today. This show-stealing band has been known to tear the house down with their tight harmonies and deft picking and you can expect to hear great songs delivered with expertise, precision and passion. The Dirty Kitchen band are three gifted musicians that can hold their own in any setting and allowed to present their “musical bona fides” in every show. Frank was also 6 years with the US Navy Band, Country Current. Band members: Frank Solivan, mandolin/fiddle/vocals; Mike Munford, banjo; Danny Booth, bass/vocals; Chris Luquette, guitar/vocals. _ KEVIN PACE AND THE EARLY EDITION WEB Born and raised in Georgia , Kevin brings real southern traditional bluegrass sounds to the great northwest. - Philosophy of the Our Festival -
We are inviting pickers of all ages to an exciting weekend of bluegrass at its best. We believe that means lots of nice folks coming together to share their music and their stories, seeing old friends and making new ones. A weekend where the music never stops...and we don't mean just on stage!
We think bluegrass at its best means celebrating and encouraging the talents of young musicians well as the old timers. By doing so, we are assuring the future of acoustic roots music in America and our festival seeks to nurture that tradition.
It's all about the music folks. The preservation of this body of music; its traditions and values as well as many instruments long forgotten.
Join us then, and see what comes of it. You never know, there may be a Bluegrass musician hidden in you some where..... |

OUR YOUTH PROGRAM IS NAMED "TAYLOR'S CAMP". IN HONOR OF THIS FINE GENTLEMAN _ Taylor Richards was a young man who epitomized our vision for developing an instructional camp to nurture an appreciation of American roots music in the next generation. From the day Taylor walked into a little music store in Leavenworth Washington with his dad Steve, with a little interest in music but not much thought of Bluegrass, until he played on our stage in the guitar flat-picking contest 5 years later, a transformation took place. Every summer he would come out from his home in Georgia to see his dad and they would attend the Wenatchee River Bluegrass Festival. With every festival he would get better and better; gleaning information, techniques and style from everyone he could play with. Soaking up everything he could hold. He and his dad found a common ground that cemented them together, no matter how far apart they were the rest of the year. He grew into a man we were all so proud to know, with his quick wit, gentle heart, gracious manners and a smile that could calm the most hectic moment. Taylor wanted to continue his family's tradition of military service and was killed in combat serving his country as a Lance Corporal Marine in Afghanistan on June 26th, 2010. We, the Board of Directors of the Wenatchee River Bluegrass Festival, wanted to honor Taylor 's memory and his love of Bluegrass music by naming our school “ Taylor 's Camp”. We know we couldn't ask for a better guardian angel for our “kids”. _ Taylor Richards at the 2006 WRBF |
